General Lab Information
Accounts
Password reset and many ECS services require you to be connected to the Rutgers network (on campus or via Rutgers VPN).
All students are given engineering accounts at the beginning of each semester when class rosters are processed for the labs. These engineering accounts require the users' NetID as their username and a password that is particular for this account and not related to their general NetID password (required for access to myRutgers, ScarletMail, etc.). If a user forgets their password, they may change it by going to https://soekrb.rutgers.edu/. If a student does not have an account, the student must reach out to their professor to see if the professor has submitted their roster to ECS for processing. If the student still does not have an account or is not currently in a class and needs an account to access the computer labs, please go to room EN-B124A during the Fall and Spring semesters for further assistance.
Faculty and staff may also use the computer labs and will need engineering accounts to do so. If a faculty or staff member does not currently have an engineering account, they may stop by room B124A during the Fall and Spring semesters or submit a support ticket at https://ecstickets.rutgers.edu/open.php.
Additionally, the engineering account is used to access engsoft.rutgers.edu, dsv.rutgers.edu (an alias for engsoft.rutgers.edu), and our web server coewww.rutgers.edu.
Information for Instructors Teaching in the Labs
Registering Students for Lab Accounts
At the beginning of each semester, instructors must submit their class rosters to ECS so that student accounts can be created. Once processed, students will be able to log in to lab computers using their NetID as the username and their engineering-specific password.
To submit a roster or request account creation for your students, please submit a support ticket with your course information and class roster.
Booking the Lab for Your Class
You must be connected to the Rutgers network (on campus or via VPN) to access the class booking system.
Labs can be reserved for scheduled class sessions using the class booking system. To reserve a lab, visit the Class Booking page.
Available labs for booking: DSV, EIT, RWH402, and RWH404. Please book your lab as early as possible to ensure availability for your course schedule.
Software Requests
If your course requires specific software that is not currently installed in the labs, please submit a support ticket at least two weeks before the start of the semester. Include the software name, version (if applicable), and licensing information.
