There are various ways to access Engineering Computing Services (ECS) computers.
The method that we recommend is by using SSH, SFTP or Putty.
Telnet and FTP are turned off on all ECS computers.
To download SSH or Putty refer to SSH for Windows or
SSH for Mac page.
This page also provides you with instruction in using SSH.
Students - DSV Lab, EIT Lab, and engsoft accounts
- Access - engsoft.rutgers.edu
dsv.rutgers.edu (Nickname for engsoft.rutgers.edu)
- Email - username@soemail.rutgers.edu
Students using computers in ECS are given engsoft.rutgers.edu accounts.
With the username and password they can access the DSV Lab, EIT Lab, and also their email accounts by SSH or Putty.
However, when you are receiving and sending emails, it should be used as username@soemail.rutgers.edu
Faculty and Staff - DSV Lab, EIT Lab, and cronos accounts
- Access - cronos.rutgers.edu
- Email - username@jove.rutgers.edu
Faculty/Staff using computers in ECS are given cronos.rutgers.edu accounts.
